Manchester City survived a late scare from Fulham in a 2-1 away win at Craven Cottage. Roque Santa Cruz and Carlos Tévez (pictured) scored first half goals that gave City enough of a lead to withstand Danny Murphy’s 75th minute penalty. City are now two points clear of Liverpool for fifth place with two games in hand and just two points short of Tottenham for fourth with a game in hand. If the Citizens can do everything right over the final two months of this season they are in position to overtake Spurs and finish in fourth place, earning a position in the Champions League. Fulham are in tenth place and at this point have basically no hope of finishing in the top seven and getting back into Europe. That said, the Cottagers are in the quarterfinals of the Europa League, so if they can win that tournament they’d be guaranteed a position back in Europe’s second tier next season.
