Goals from Robin Van Persie (pictured) and Andrei Arshavin in the final fifteen minutes gave Arsenal a shocking 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Emirates in North London. David Villa’s first half goal had the visitors well ahead but a stunning, near-post goal from Van Persie leveled terms in the 76th minute. Just seven minutes later, Arshavin, a second half substitute for Alex Song, poked in the match-winner after a strong build-up through the heart of Barcelona’s retreating defense. The Gunners still have work to do, having given up an away goal to arguably the strongest side in Europe. The return leg next month at the Camp Nou figures to be a perfectly thrilling match-up with a spot in the quarter-finals on the line.
