Raul Meireles (pictured) scored the game’s only goal on a bizarre play as Liverpool took down Chelsea for the second time this season, 1-0 on this occasion at Stamford Bridge. Fernando Torres showed several flashes of initiative but the Reds mostly shut the game down in defense as the Blues missed passes and miscommunicated throughout. Meireles got the goal when Petr Čech and Branislav Ivanović once again mixed up positioning and calling for the ball and left the Portuguese international wide open on goal. The three points send Liverpool up to sixth place while Chelsea will rue the missed chance to make up ground on Manchester United and Arsenal. The Blues are still in fourth with a significantly larger goal differential than fifth place Spurs.
