West Ham and Everton played to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday at the Boleyn Ground. The Hammers returned to their home kit leaving the Toffees no choice but to wear alternate blue socks and shorts with their regular shirts.

Blackpool stunned Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light. The Black Cats wore their home colors which were judged to be too close to Blackpool’s usual orange or their change whites. So the Tangerines, only for the second time, wore their third strip.

In another surprising result, Fulham defeated Stoke City 2-0 at the Britannia Stadium. Stoke donned their first choice kits, pushing Fulham to wear their rare solid-green outfits.

Ten-man Tottenham Hotspur got past Newcastle United 2-0 at White Hart Lane. Spurs wore their home kits and Toon their all-blue changes.

A Mario Balotelli hat-trick led Manchester City to a 4-0 rout of sorry Aston Villa at Eastlands. City‘s home kits put Villa in their all-black changes.

Blackburn Rovers took down West Bromwich Albion 3-1 at the Hawthorns. The Baggies were in their outstanding home kits so Rovers switched to their sharp red and black change ensemble.

Tuesday concluded with a shocking 1-1 draw between Birmingham City and Manchester United at St. Andrew’s. Brum wore their standard kits while United switched from white shorts and black socks to their change black shorts and alternate white socks.

On Wednesday, Chelsea held on to defeat Bolton Wanderers 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. The Blues were in their home colors so the Trotters switched to alternate navy socks.

Ten-man Wigan Athletic came from behind to draw Arsenal 2-2 at the DW Stadium. The Latics wore their home kits while the Gunners chose their changes.

And the mid-week round concluded with a shocking 1-0 win for Wolverhampton Wanderers away to Liverpool at Anfield Road. The Reds were appropriately dressed and so Wolves could wear their first choice kits as well. Liverpool also wore bands of black electrical tape in honor of Avi Cohen, the former Liverpool defender and Israeli international who died this week after a motorcycle accident. Strange that the Reds could not concoct actual arm bands for the occasion. The ground stood for a moment of silence ahead of kick off.
