Brian Laws was today sacked at Burnley after about a year at the Turf Moor. Hired to replace Owen Coyle when the latter moved to Bolton Wanderers this time last year, Laws promptly led the Clarets to relegation and a current tenth place position in the Championship. Despite the fact that Burnely hadn’t been in the Premier League for sixty-odd years, it would seem a return to the top flight is now the expectation. Phil Brown, formerly and often hilariously manager of Hull City, is said to be the leading candidate to take over.
