Bolton Wanderers kept up their winning ways scoring two short-handed goals to defeat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at the Reebok. Fabrice Muamba scored the opener on 65 minutes after Mark Davies earned his second yellow card. Mame Biram Diouf, on loan from Manchester United, equalized for Rovers in the 87th minute but Stuart Holden scored the match-winner just a minute later to keep Bolton in sixth place. Blackburn are back in thirteenth place.
Elsewhere, Wolverhampton Wanderers picked up three crucial points with a 1-0 win against West Midlands rivals Birmingham City at Molineux. Stephen Hunt’s first half injury-time goal was enough to give Wolves the win and move them within a point of escaping the dreaded relegation zone. The loss is a bad one for Brum who are themselves just two points clear of the drop zone.
And a 70th minute Didier Drogba equalizer split points between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane, 1-1. Drogba had a chance to win the match with an injury-time penalty but it was turned aside by Spurs keeper Heurelho Gomes. The shared points keep Spurs clear of Bolton for fifth place and leave the Blues in fourth, tied on points with Manchester United who hold two games in hand.
