Two late goals from Matheus gave Sporting Braga a 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Estádio Municipal, throwing open Group H. Arsenal could have guaranteed advancement with a win but the failure to pick up any points and the three gathered by Braga leave the Gunners in second place, clear of Braga on goal difference. Arsenal are still likely to go through, as only a loss or draw and a Braga win at Shakhtar Donetsk, the group leaders, could leave the Gunners out. Arsenal did lose Cesc Fàbregas (pictured) to an injury and will have to field a serious side against last place Partizan on Match Day Six to assure their qualification for the knock out round.

Group E:
Roma 3 – Bayern Munich 2
Basel 1 – Cluj 0

Group F:
Chelsea 2 – Žilina 1
Spartak 0 – OM 3

Group G:
Ajax 0 – Real Madrid 4
Auxerre 0 – Milan 2

Group H:
Partizan 0 – Shakhtar Donetsk 3

  1. Anyone else find it strange Arsenal was a scoring machine when Cesc, RVP, Bendtner, and Walcott were injured but now struggle like nobody’s business to find the back of the net? They also need the Verminator back to shore up the back. He seemed to settle everyone down last season and not take any shit.
