Sotirios Kyrgiakos (pictured) and Fernando Torres scored for Liverpool in a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers at Anfield Road. The relegation battle between the Reds and Rovers will continue as all three points do not bring Liverpool out of the drop zone due to goal differential. Liverpool remain in eighteenth place while Rovers are still in seventeenth.

At the Britannia Stadium, a Javier Hernández brace led Manchester United past Stoke City 2-1. Tuncay scored a stunning equalizer on 81 minutes for the Potters but Hernández got a tap on a Patrice Evra pass to score the winner just five minutes later and prevent another late-game draw. United move into second place, pending the result of the Manchester City-Arsenal match while Stoke are mired in thirteenth place.
