A Carlos Tévez (pictured) penalty and a late Adam Johnson goal gave Manchester City a 2-1 victory over visiting Newcastle United at Eastlands. Jonás Gutiérrez scored for Toon to equalize after the Tevez spot-kick, but it was not enough in the end to salvage what would have been a major away point. Instead, Johnson scored another fine goal and City took all three points to a nice perch in second place. That position could change depending on results later in the day, but for now the Citizens will be very pleased with their status. Newcastle could be facing some trouble after Hatem Ben Arfa went down with a nasty knee injury just minutes into the match. As it stands, Toon are in fourteenth place, just a point clear of the drop zone.
