Bastian Schweinsteiger netted a brace, including the winner just one minute from time, to give Bayern Munich all three points in a hard-fought game away to Basel. The 2-1 result at St. Jakob Park sends the Bavarian giants to the top of Group E after canceling out Alexander Frei’s first half offering. The result also leaves Basel almost without hope in the group. Bayern sit only ninth in the Bundesliga so three points mid-week should be a confidence booster, even if it was a late goal against Basel.

Group E:
Roma 2 – Cluj 1

Group F:
Chelsea 2 – Olympique de Marseille 0

Group G:
Ajax 1 – Milan 1
Auxerre 0 – Real Madrid 1

Group H:
Partizan 1 – Arsenal 3
Sporting Braga 0 – Shakhtar Donetsk 3
