Two goals in the final ten minutes saw Stoke City rally to earn their first points of the season in a 2-1 home victory over Aston Villa at the Britannia Stadium. The Potters were without manager Tony Pulis due to the death of his mother, but were able to eke out the full three points in dramatic fashion. Stewart Downing’s first half goal was all Villa could muster as Kenwyne Jones (pictured) and Robert Huth scored the late goals for the home side. Full points leave West Ham as the only club without a single point through the first month of the season. Villa of course have still not been able to secure the presence of recently-hired manager Gérard Houllier. That cannot be blamed for their last-second collapse, but changes are surely on the way.
