A Lewis Guy goal in extra-time gave Milton Keynes Dons just enough to edge Blackpool in the second round of the Carling Cup. The Seasiders had drawn even on a Charlie Adam (pictured) penalty in the 82nd minute, but the League One side were able to muster enough to rebound and defeat the Premier League debutants in their first domestic cup action as a top flight side in many years.

The other Premier League clubs all survived the first day of the second round of the League Cup, including West Ham United who needed an injury-time goal from Scott Parker to survive Oxford United at the Boleyn Ground.
