Last season, this space correctly predicted the final position of the top three sides in the Premier League. And not much else. This season appears to be even more difficult to decipher as the relative lack of transfers, or at least of the biggest names, has called required greater knowledge about the younger, less experienced players already at Premier League clubs. That said, this space claims no such knowledge and is predicting final results largely on what happened last season, manager changes and a very few major changes. So, here are the predicted final positions for the 2010/11 Premier League season:

1. Arsenal
2. Manchester United
3. Chelsea
4. Manchester City
5. Liverpool
6. Everton
7. Tottenham Hotspur
8. Stoke City
9. Aston Villa
10. Fulham
11. Bolton Wanderers
12. Newcastle United
13. Sunderland
14. West Ham United
15. Blackburn Rovers

  1. 1. Liverpool – I am crazy excited about Joe Cole and Hodgson knows how to use this team’s talents
    2. Man United
    3. Arsenal
    4. Chelski
    5. Man City – I foresee chemistry issues
    6. Tottenham
    7. Everton
    8. Stoke
    9. Fulham
    10. West Ham
    11. Aston Villa
    12. Newcastle – Good to see them again
    13. Blackburn
    14. Sunderland
    15. Birmingham
    16. Bolton
    17. Wolverhampton

  2. All right. I’ll bite:
    1. Man United
    2. Arsenal
    3. Chelsea
    4. Man City
    5. Tottenham
    6. Liverpool
    7. Everton
    8. Aston Villa
    9. Fulham
    10. Stoke
    11. Birmingham
    12. Newcastle
    13. Sunderland
    14. Blackburn
    15. Bolton
    16. Wolverhampton
    17. West Ham
    18. Wigan
    19. West Brom
    20. Blackpool

I think we can all agree that Blackpool is pretty much a lock to be this year’s Derby County or Burnley.

  3. Close to everyone elses, but I have much less confidence in Newcastle.

    1. Manchester United – I think Berbatov will break out this year and a nice swan song for Giggsy.
    2. Arsenal – As usual this is on the hopes of signing a keeper and a center back before the transfer window closes. Unforgivable if Wenger doesn’t at least sign a keeper. Nasri will be a star this season and pick up the slack for the disappointing Russian. Chamakh gives much needed help in the air, although I don’t hate Bendtner as much as most Gunner fans.
    3. Chelsea – Getting a little long in the tooth and I think they have some real issues in the back. In reality, I think the top 3 are all really close and can go either way.
    4. Manchester City – Hopefully they get relegated but they have too good of a team not to finish in the top 4. On paper they have a championship caliber team but no way they can keep all those players happy.
    5. Everton – Toffees return to their usual 5th place spot. They were one of the top teams after the break last year.
    6. Liverpool – Torres and Gerrard can’t stay healthy.
    7. Tottenham Hotspur – According to everyone CL will spread them too thin.
    8. Stoke City
    9. Aston Villa
    10. Fulham
    11. Bolton Wanderers
    12. West Ham United
    13. Sunderland
    14. Blackburn Rovers
    15. Wolverhampton Wanderers
    16. Birmingham City
    17. Newcastle United
    18. Wigan Athletic
    19. West Bromich Albion
    20. Blackpool
