Stoke City have signed forward Kenwyne Jones from Sunderland for a club record £8m. The 25-year old Trinidadian striker signed a four-year contract with the Potters and figures to be instrumental in improving Stoke’s woeful scoring record. The Black Cats are now likely to complete a loan deal with Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck. Alex Ferguson was not keen on having one of his star youngsters sitting on the bench while on loan to Sunderland, so Jones’ exit opens the door for Welbeck at the Stadium of Light.
