With a 3-2 victory over Uruguay at the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, Holland advanced to it’s first World Cup final since the 1978. Giovanni Van Bronckhorst (pictured) opened the scoring for the Dutch with Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben adding second half goals to put the match out of reach. Diego Forlán equalized just before half-time and Maximiliano Pereira added the Uruguayans second deep into injury-time, but it was not enough to overcome the powerful Dutch side. For most of the game the Netherlands were in control, only allowing several chances to drop for Forlán. In fact, Robben missed two easy chances to go up 4-1 in the second half before Pereira pulled one back late on. The Dutch deny Uruguay their first final since 1950 and will face either Germany or Spain in the final on Sunday in Johannesburg.
