Wearing the all-red kits reminiscent of the 1966 World Cup champions for the first time in this World Cup, England managed a 1-0 win over Slovenia at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth to qualify second from Group C. The victory for England, compliments of a first half goal from Jermain Defoe (pictured) eliminates Slovenia and slots the English in behind the Americans as qualifying teams. Though they finish the group stage with a victory and qualification to the knockout rounds, England did score just two goals in three games and zero in second halves. Obviously the Slovenes will be gutted that they entered the final round of games as group leaders by two points yet could not advance. England will face the second place finisher from Group D, whose games will conclude later today.
