Martín Demichelis and Martín Palermo (pictured) scored late goals to send Argentina into the knockout rounds as the top team from Group B while simultaneously crashing Greece out of the tournament. The 2-0 win at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane was the third in three for Diego Maradona and company, enough for the best record to this point in the World Cup. By topping Group B, Argentina will again be matched up with Mexico in the round of 16, a game that in the 2006 World Cup featuring the stunning Maxi Rodríguez winner in extra-time. Greece could have qualified for the knockout stages had they drawn, and it appeared that could be a result for most of the match as the Greeks survived shot after shot from Argentina. But the defensive mindset was not enough to survive in this tournament, despite earning Greece their first ever World Cup victory.
