After Hull City were relegated, Stephen Hunt was able to exercise a clause in his contract allowing him to leave the Tigers. That move came today when the Irish international signed on with Mick McCarthy’s Wolverhampton Wanderers of the Premier League. The terms have not been disclosed, but it is known that Hull refused a £5m bid from Wolves in the January transfer market. The move makes perfect sense for the winger as his quality is surely of better use in the top flight than in the Championship. Wolves also benefit greatly both from Hunt’s experience and from adding another strong player, adding his name to that of Jelle Van Damme and Steven Fletcher on the list of newly acquired top flight players.
