France are on the ropes after Mexico‘s 2-0 victory at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. Javier Hernández (pictured) opened the scoring for Mexico and Cuauhtémoc Blanco scored in his third World Cup to seal the game and all but end France’s hopes of advancing out of the group stage. With just one point through two games the French have been as toothless as their scoreless record would indicate. Discontinuity has reigned amid Les Bleus, to the point where they barely even challenged Mexican keeper Óscar Pérez. Without a mathematical miracle next week, France will not advance to the knock out rounds. Mexico will vie with Uruguay in the final group stage game to determine who wins Group A. The winner will likely avoid Argentina in the next round with the second place side destined for a clash with the side who were so completely dominant earlier today.
