Just days after his Liverpool exit, Rafael Benítez has been named manager at treble-winning Internazionale. The club’s first choice for José Mourinho’s replacement was Fabio Capello, but the Italian manager has decided to stick with England for the time being. So it is Benítez who is charged with replacing the most dynamic manager in the world in a year when nothing will possibly compare with what they’ve just done. Benítez does have two trips to the Champions League final in his pocket, including the famous comeback against Inter’s hated rivals AC Milan in 2005. Having won five consecutive Serie A titles, it’s clear Inter would now rather vie for the Champions League title every year. Whether Benítez is the right man for that job is debatable.
