Wolverhampton Wanderers have secured the services of Belgian international defender Jelle Van Damme for an undisclosed fee from Anderlecht. The 26-year old has spent time in England before, playing six games over two seasons as a teenager at Southampton. For the past four years, Van Damme has featured 110 times for Anderlecht has has been capped 29 times for Belgium. Though he isn’t a household name, Van Damme is a significant signing for a club like Wolves who are trying desperately to become an annual team in the Premier League. Surviving their first season back up was one thing but keeping among the fifteen or so top clubs in England is somewhat more difficult. Adding a steady defender who can play in central defense or as a left back can do nothing but help Wolves.
