Diego Forlán (pictured) scored both goals for Atlético Madrid as the Spanish side outlasted a spirited Fulham side 2-1 in the final of the Europa League at the HSV Nordbank Arena in Hamburg. Forlán scored in the 32nd and 116th minutes as Atlético survived Simon Davies’ 37th minute equalizer. The game was a back-and-forth affair with each side controlling long stretches of the action without result. But finally in the second of two over-time periods, Sergio Agüero danced around the edge of the area long enough to spot Forlán who nicked in the match-winner with a slight deflection off of Brede Hangeland. Obviously the result is a total heartbreak for Fulham, but then again, how many clubs won a European trophy in only their second-ever season in Europe?
