Franck Ribéry lost his appeal with UEFA today and will miss the Champions League final against Internazionale on May 22. The suspension comes from the straight red card earned by the French forward in Bayern Munich’s semi-final first leg against Olympique Lyonnais. Ribéry missed the second leg already but will not be absent from the German champions’ side in the final. Some would argue this is actually to the benefit of Bayern, who seem to play quite well when their Frenchman is out of the line-up. Either way, the lack of a fine attacking option is a major loss against a staunchly defensive side like Inter.
