With just one weekend left in the 2009/10 Premier League season, sights are now being set on the impending summer transfer market. Manchester City have sent the biggest ripples so far with notions of signing James Milner away from Aston Villa and bringing Fernando Torres over from Liverpool. But it is Arsenal who could make a big dent in the plans of City as the Gunners begin their pursuit of on-loan goal keeper Joe Hart. Having turned 23 just two weeks ago, Hart is the long-term answer to the Gunners’ recent issue in goal, that is if Arsène Wenger can convince Hart that his future belongs in North London rather than Manchester. Hart has been on loan at Birmingham City this season and has performed more than admirably for the surprising top-ten finishing Blues. Manchester City of course have Shay Given as their regular starter but likely won’t give up Hart without a fight. But regular football at one of England’s biggest clubs could be enough to persuade the future England no. 1 to move down to London and give Arsenal a formidable wall in front of goal.
