Three goals in the final ten minutes stunned Arsenal as Wigan Athletic used a goal from Charles N’Zogbia (pictured) in extra-time to win 3-2 at the DW Stadium. Arsenal scored from Theo Walcott and Mikaël Silvestre before Ben Watson, Titus Bramble and N’Zogbia scored in the 80th, 88th and 90th minutes. The three points send Wigan up to fifteenth place and seven points clear of the drop zone, all but ensuring their survival in the Premier League. Arsenal stay in fourth place but in trailing Chelsea at the top by six points with just three to play, are effectively out of the race for the league’s highest honor.

And at Fratton Park, teenager Nathan Delfouneso scored in the 82nd minute to give Aston Villa a 2-1 victory over Portsmouth. Michael Brown opened the scoring for Pompey but was answered by John Carew just seven minutes later in the 16th minute. There the game stood until Delfouneso pounced just eight minutes from time to push Villa into sixth place, overtaking Liverpool. Portsmouth are of course already assured of relegation.

  2. a great 10 minutes! – Wigan has now has wins against Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal this year, but are way too inconsistent. I guess that’s why they’re only in 16th.
