Aston Villa were probably wronged when a penalty wasn’t given to them in the first half. But Chelsea blasted away any doubts about the final result with three second half goals, including two in the final minutes to beat Villa 3-0 in the FA Cup semi-final today at Wembley. Didier Drogba’s 67th minute goal put the Blues ahead for good but it was the goals by Florent Malouda in the 89th and Frank Lampard in the 90th minutes that sealed the game and the result for Chelsea. And so the Blues go back to the final of the FA Cup that they won last season over Everton. They will play the winner of tomorrow’s Tottenham-Portsmouth tie, also at Wembley. This also leaves the door open for a double for Chelsea if they can hold of Manchester United in the league.

  1. I have to say this wasn’t the best performance by Chelsea, but the display in second half was a bit better than the first. The positive out of this game is that the players were able to elevate their playing in second half despite a disappointing first half display. That’s what champions do. I have to say Villa deserved the penalty in first half though.

  2. This was a terrible tackle. as bad as can be .. he deserved a red. I put it on the fact that he felt he was out of position and wanted to break the play up, maybe just didn’t realize how bad this could have been. In retrospective I’m sure he regrets the gesture but he should have seen red for that.
