Bobby Zamora (pictured) scored again for Fulham as the Cottagers won yet again in the Europa League, this time 1-0 at Wolfsburg to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory over the German champions. The semi-finals are now in store for Fulham who are continuing their greatest ever season in Europe despite struggling a bit in their domestic schedule.
At Anfield Road, Liverpool pulled themselves back together and defeated Benfica 4-1 to emerge with a 5-3 aggregate victory. Fernando Torres scored twice after Dirk Kuyt and Lucas put the Reds in an early lead. Óscar Cardozo’s 70th minute free kick did put a scare into the Reds but Torres’ second saw off the Portuguese side and pushed Liverpool into the semi-finals of the Europa League.
Atlético Madrid and Hamburg will join the two English sides in the semi-finals after surviving their own quarterfinals. Atlético will get to face their former striker Torres and Liverpool while Hamburg will aim to reach the final hosted in their own stadium in facing Fulham.
