West Ham United twice came from a goal down to earn a very important 2-2 draw with Everton at Goodison Park. Two goals in the final five minutes kept the game interesting with West Ham’s new boy Ilan scoring the tying goal on 87 minutes to equal Yakubu’s 85th minute goal for the Toffees. The Hammers will be disappointed that they did not take all three points from Everton after Mido missed a penalty. But even one point is vital for the Hammers as try to distanced themselves from the relegation zone below. West Ham are now a point ahead of Hull City for seventeenth and three points shy of Wigan. Everton will certainly rue their missed opportunity at home and now find themselves five points behind the final European qualifying position.
Elsewhere, a Liam Ridgewell goal cancelled out Steven Gerrard’s goal for Liverpool to earn Birmingham City a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at St. Andrews. The shared points don’t really benefit either side but do drastically hurt Liverpool’s chances of finishing in the top four this season.
