Goals from Miguel Veloso (pictured), Pedro Mendes and Matías Fernández saw Sporting through to the Europa League’s round of sixteen with a 3-0 victory and 4-2 aggregate win over Everton at the Estádio José Alvalade. The comprehensive victory stunned the Toffees and sends them crashing out of Europe after a strong first leg. The Portuguese side were by far the better team today and deservedly advance.

  2. Not a great day for Holland and Turkey. All 5 teams go out with Galatassary, Fennerbache, and PSV all allowing late goals to seal their demise.

  3. Oy, yeah not so good. On the other hand, it was a big day for Germany as they are getting closer and closer to taking a Champions League spot back from Italy via UEFA coefficients.
