Michaël Ciani (pictured) scored in first half extra-time to send visiting Girondins de Bordeaux to an important 1-0 away victory over Olympiakos at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus. The away goal and a clean sheet put Les Girondins in the driver’s seat for their return leg back at the Stade Chaban-Delmas in a fortnight.

Elsewhere, Cacau’s first half header was cancelled out by Zlatan Ibrahimović in the 52nd minute for a 1-1 draw between Stuttgart and Barcelona at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. The home side were by far the better side in the first half-hour, dominating possession and putting an array of shots on Víctor Valdés. But only Cacau’s goal went in, giving the visitors a chance at redemption. Ibrahimović scored from his own rebound not long after half-time and the score remained even. The away goal gives Barça the advantage in returning to the Camp Nou for the second leg.
