A Salif Diao goal deep into extra-time gave Stoke City a 2-1 victory over Portsmouth at Fratton Park. The home side had taken the lead before half-time on Frédéric Piquionne’s 35th minute goal. But a failure to add to that lead before the break left the door open for Stoke. Robert Huth (pictured) brought the game back to level pecking with his 50th minute header for the visitors before Diao broke the Pompey spirit just seconds before the final whistle. Three points move Stoke to a more secure eleventh place. Pompey are in deep trouble sitting seven points shy of even nineteenth place.
